Mike and Pam Lina grew up, got married and raised their family here in Buffalo and in East Aurora. Mike started Mike Lina Paving as a young man and grew it into a successful and well respected business known for character and quality.
In the early 90s, Mike was driving past a piece of land on Route 20A when he heard God speak to him from Numbers 33:53 and say, “Take possession of the land and settle in it, for I have given you the land to possess.” He wasn’t sure what that meant, but was ready to obey.
In 1996, Mike and Pam purchased 6 acres on the front of that property and built a shop and offices for Mike Lina Paving. They realized that they had now set foot on that land and gained a possible foot hold for the future.
A few years later God spoke to Mike again about purchasing the remaining land. He knew it was time so he set out to find out if it was for sale.. He found the owner and discovered it was for sale. Mike didn’t understand how any of this could even be possible but was driven by wanting to be obedient to what God was saying.
Through great sacrifice, miraculous moments, and the Lord’s provision, they were able to purchase the land now called Promised Land. They began to dream about the ministry opportunities that could come out of this and all the incredible things God might do.
In 2015 Pastors Mike and Pam sensed God leading them to the next step on their journey to start a local church on Promised Land. With that same heart and desire to obey, they started meeting together in the shop and offices of Mike Lina Paving.
People began to join them and over time they renovated the old paving garage and offices to become a simple but beautiful auditorium and quaint kids spaces. People came, found Jesus, were baptized, received healing and participated in the life and freedom that only Jesus offers.
Then in 2024 Pastors Mike and Pam began to sense a transition. At the same time, the Lord began to speak to Brent and Maria Parsley about transitioning out of the church they helped plant in Austin, Texas in 2010 to move to New York with their family to become the pastors of Promised Land in East Aurora.
Through prayer and counsel over the next year and a half, they became convinced through multiple confirmations that God was indeed calling them to pastor this faith community in Western New York.
So we are in this beautiful and exciting transition season and looking forward to all that God has planned for the people of Promised Land and Western New York in the days ahead.
We are praying and seeking God for vision and direction as we plan to regroup and retool to prepare for a relaunch together in the Spring. Our vision is Following Jesus Together in Western New York, and we would love for you to join us.
See you Sunday.
